Projekt: Im Rahmen eines DFG-geförderten Forschungsprojektes („Neurocysticercosis in sub-Saharan Africa – A neglected infectious disease and an emerging public health problem“) werden T. solium Isolate unterschiedlichen geographischen Ursprungs (Tansania, Uganda, Zambia) mittels Sequenzanalyse mitochondrialer Gene genotypisiert, und mit phänotypischen Eigenschaften der Erreger, sowie klinischen und diagnostischen (an Neurozystizerkosepatienten aus den entsprechenden Regionen erhobenen) Parametern korreliert. ANFORDERUNGEN Erfahrung in molekularbiologischen und immunologischen Techniken. Das genannte Projekt beinhaltet Maßnahmen zum „capacity building“ in Afrika (Etablierung serologisch-diagnostischer Methoden in den genannten Ländern), Bereitschaft zu regelmäßigen Projektreisen nach Afrika sowie Training afrikanischen Laborpersonals ist daher unbedingt erforderlich.
